Make the work comparable
Ask each provider to identify the exact rooms, quantities, products and preparation included. A floor quote with subfloor work is different from a material installation quote. A cabinet refacing quote is different from full replacement.
Look below the headline
Check protection, removal, disposal, finishing, cleanup and responsibility for arranging trades or approvals. Identify allowances and exclusions. Ask how hidden damage, product delays or changes you request will be documented and priced.
Clarify the practical terms
Discuss access, estimated duration, occupied-home arrangements, payment stages and product ordering. Ask who is doing the work and how you can verify appropriate qualifications and insurance for the particular job.
Keep a written record
Compare warranty terms, commissioning or handover information, manuals and maintenance requirements. Keep the final scope, approved changes and receipts together. The lowest initial figure is not automatically the lowest complete-project cost.
